WALKS

  • AUGHRIM LAKE WALK

Directly opposite the house! Short easy loop via the Pavilion and playground.

  • REDNAGH FOREST (Coillte)

End of avenue turn right, continue straight, keep left over the bridge, entrance on left at the end of the footpath. Exit at Annacurra playground.

End of avenue, turn left, left again at junction up steep hill. 1 mile loop of Aughrim, gorgeous views out towards the Croghan mountains.

End of avenue, turn left. When leaving village the walk starts at the ‘Old School’ at Tinakilly Bridge. There is a car park and a picnic area. Alder, oak, birch and sycamore trees grace the river banks. Wildlife to watch out for include dippers, wrens and stoats.  Easy 4 km loop walk.

  • RIVER TRAIL, UNMARKED

End of avenue, turn right, continue straight and keep right at fork. Continue up for approx. 5km. Small area to park on left by woods, carefully follow unmarked trail by river. Lovely setting.

The Avonmore and beg rivers come together to form the Avoca River. Approx. 9min drive from Aughrim.

52 acres of wild Robinsonian gardens surround the ruins of a fine Queen Anne style house.
